ok, i think it calmed down for tonight.
i'll try to sleep a bit. my blog and laure's one are going smooth. i'll have two blogs to update daily. i want also to create a third one (a second kerblog), but i'll talk about it when it's ready.

ReplyDeleteYour blogs and those blogs of your mother and all the other lebanese blogs being written give the war a personable face for all of us sitting on the sidelines watching your lives be pulled apart on our safe tv's on our safe sofa's.
We all know that the news is heavily influenced by propoganda etc but with the internet we can see what the actual reality is ! They cant keep the truth from coming out !The more people see the truth the more power is taken from the attackers hands and the hands that support the attackers.Its sick whats being done to your country and all the innocent civilians on both sides of the border and blame can be laid to rest at many peoples doors. Unfortunatley its not them that pay the price for it by losing their lives. But one day, one day hopefully not to far away the people of the west and east will unite and GET RID of people whose way of governing countries is to use violence ! I believe violence leads to more violence and if everyone stopped fighting and started talking then precious lives would be saved.
I will pass the links on for your blog and hope that maybe i am playing a small part in helping the resistance to gain momentum. This war has to stop !

But i ask myself something : why exactly you decided to stay in Beirut, even having a possibility to leave ? I feel worried about your safety, for you being away from your son that may need you now more than ever.
I know it's maybe a too private question to ask because we don't know each other, but following my concerns and since you told about your family situation on the blog i'd like to know more on your decision, to understand better : how safe are you there ? how do you spend your days ? can you really work on your art and activism there better that somewhere else ? how do you think the next days or week will be (of course you don't know but i'm sure you ask yourself or dream about while asleep..) ? your art and music are truly great and i guess the best you can do in order to "resist" is to pursue it as intensely as you can but i ask myslef if in a longer term being in Beirut would be the best thing for Beirut itself, for you and everybody who may need and benefit from your work.

Too many people in my country (in Germany) believe the media and politicians repeating themselfes about Israels right to "defend" themselfes.

ReplyDeletewell, i most probably will answer this - or try to answer - in the drawings at some point. i ask myself a lot the question in fact, especially that i am the total anti-nationalist kind of guy.
all i can say it that my place is here for the moment. a lot of people would like to leave but cannot. and then leave for where? for what? it took me years to convince myself to stay in beirut after my school instead of going to live in paris like a lot of my friends. now that i am convinced, i think it's take a couple of years before the israeli air force can convince me to leave the country. unless they make me leave in a box.
anyways, i am sure this issue will raise up naturally in what i draw at some point.

ReplyDeleteanyways, i cannot explain really what it would be like to be in europe seeing beirut burning on tv on cnn. actually i cannot because i never tried it. and i am not ready to do so.
it is pretty weird to explain this obstination to stay here. even to myself. there are many reasons, but none is really valid. not even all together are valid maybe (if you compare to the possible loss of your life). anyways, for the time being i am still safe.
and will continue doing so.
