ABOUT THIS BLOG

This blog is the exact replica of the one i created during the july-august 2006 israeli war on lebanon. I made this replica available because for some reasons the oldest posts disappeared on my regular blog. Here you can see all the posts, drawings and comments posted between the creation of the blog on the 14th of july 2006 and the 27th of august, plus a couple of additional related posts added on a later stage. To "read" it in its original order please start at the bottom of the july 2006 page.

KERBOOK

that's it.
the book is finished. it is not out yet, but it went to print two days ago and it should be officially released in february.
and what's in it?
all the drawings and written posts from the war. including three unpublished drawings (one that was consciously censored, and two that i forgot to scan back then!)
250 pages all in all. done in 33 days. i still don't know how i managed to do it.

anyway, i am still working on the layout of the english version to propose it to some american publishers in the beginning of the year. i should be done these two day.
why do i tell you all this?
because i still cannot find time to upload some new drawings.

keep posted.

211
i feel that tonight, i am going to sleep.
for real.

Sunday 27th of august 2006

that’s it.
it’s over.
the book is finished.
me too.
i didn’t draw today.
i didn’t watch tv.
i didn’t think.
i didn’t.
i did nothing.
i am preparing myself to leave tomorrow for a 10 days tour in sweden and norway.
my first “break”. how is it now in sweden? i thought for a moment that it’s going to be funny to be in a place where we won’t speak about the war for a couple of days. actually we won’t speak of something else. will the swedish airport security like my beard?
shift the brain.
the war is over.
they said.
the next one will take a moment to come.
shift the brain.
the holydays are over.
you’re going to work.
you are a musician.
go clean your trumpet.
pack your crap.
forget about it.
erase.
that's it.
fill your time now.
unitl?

still resisting?

it's 3:30 am.
there is no electricity.
i cannot upload yesterday's and today's drawings.
the war is "over" since monday.
they are still finding corpses under the fallen buildings.
we still freak out each time we hear a scooter or a truck. we think of the planes.
tomorrow we're recording a "war quartet" with sharif, charbel and marc on electric guitars.
i am still drawing.
i am waiting for the day when i can sleep.

the eternal return
despite the warnings from israel against the circulation beyond the litani river, thousands of cars overloaded with people and luggages took the road toward their villages' ruins today, starting 8 am.

and i said that when the war will end i'll stop drawing for a while. i'll rest.

and there is a girl with very beautiful eyes in the torino.

and there is a smell of life in beirut. only a smell.

very beautiful. more than what i can draw.

i don't know why i feel that i'll have to still draw for a long long time before i rest.
